Breaking his silence on Telangana, YSR congress party president YS Jaganmohan reddy said today he respects the Telangana sentiment.
Addressing the delegates at the valedictory function on the second day of his party’s plenary at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, Jagan said his party was not in a position either to grant Telangana state or stop others from giving it. “But our party respects the Telangana sentiment,” Jagan declared.
Jagan’s silence over the issue has become a subject of discussion all these days as all pro-Telangana groups, individuals and parties said he would not be allowed to tour Telangana till he declares his party’s stand on the division of the state.
For pro-Telangana elements, Jagan’s announcement comes as little relief since it lacked clarity. It must be said that Jagan was very diplomatic on the issue like his father. He did not make his party’s stand clear whether or not it favours division of the state.
What everyone expected from him was whether he favours formation of Telangana state or not but he merely said unconvincingly: “I respect the sentiment of the Telangana people.” Will Telangana people buy his ambiguous statement?
