TDP, left parties protest against petro price hike

NirasanaThe TDP and the left parties today organized dharnas and rallies in several towns and cities across the state opposing the hike in cooking gas, diesel and kerosene prices.

The leaders and workers of the TDP and left parties came on to the streets and led processions and rallies and raised slogans against the UPA government which increased the prices of LPG, diesel and kerosene.

The Centre announced last night an increase of Rs.50 per LPG cylinder, Rs 3 per liter on diesel and Rs.2 per liter on kerosene with immediate effect. Opposing the increase, the activists demanded the immediate withdrawal of the hike and threatened a long agitation if no reduction is announced.

Addressing media persons at party office in Hyderabad, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu said that petrol and diesel are available for lesser prices in several countries poorer than India and people are not in a position to bear the increase of petro prices.

Chandra Babu announced that the party will conduct protest programmes at all district collectorates on June 27 opposing the hike.
