BJP senior leader and party’s official spokesperson in the state Mrs Vanam Jhansi died in a road accident this morning. The accident occurred on her way back home to Hyderabad from Achchampeta.

Jhansi attended a programme at a village in Amangal mandalm in Mahabbonagar district Friday evening where the idol of Lord Hunuman was installed in a temple. For the night, she rested at a BJP leader’s house and left for Hyderabad this morning.

Police and BJP activists said that a speeding Innova car dashed her car from behind at Kadtal in Amangal Mandalam injuring her severely. She was immediately taken to the DRDO Apollo Hospital at Kanchanbag in Hyderabad but Jhansi died on her way to hospital.

Jhansi, who came up the BJP ladder in the state through hard work, has risen to the position of potential leader and is well respected by the BJP cadres and leaders.

The driver of her car in which she was travelling and another party leader who is with her in the car, were severely injured in the accident and they were out of danger, according to BJP leaders.

Jhansi worked as state BJP Mahila Morcha vice president and president and also as a party spokeswoman.
