Senior BJP leader Mr Venkaiah Naidu said that their party is very much opposed to 10 per cent reservations to Muslims.
Speaking at a media conference in Hyderabad this afternoon, Naidu said that, first of all, BJP is dead opposed to reservations on the basis of religions and there is no question of granting 10 per cent reservations to Muslims in any case. “That question does not arise at all,” he asserted.
The BJP leader’s comments are seen as a response to the statement made by the YSR congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy who said that he would seek 10 per cent reservations to Muslims in case he forged an alliance with BJP.
Jagan said during his election campaign that he would not align with BJP but even if he allied with that party, he would seek 10 per cent reservations to Muslims. Almost all news channels and Telugu dailies prominently publicized this statement saying that Jagan is likely to join hands with the BJP. This however forced Jagan to backtrack by reiterating there is no question of aligning with that party.
Despite the denial of such statement by Jagan, BJP thought it fit to respond to that statement and remove the confusion that has emanated from his words.
