Angry pro-Telangana activists tried to block the visit of the mega star and PRP leader Chiranjeevi on Tank Bund this afternoon when he went there for an inspection of the area following the destruction of the statues of the Telugu legendary personalities by the anarchic T elements on Thursday.

Telangana activists, who got wind of the Chiru’s trip there, arrived on Tank Bund and raised slogans against him as soon as he was spotted at the desecrated statues. Raising slogans ‘ Telangana betrayer go back’, the mob tried to barge towards him forcing police to intervene and cane charge them.

Before lathi charging them, police tried to reason out with the mob but their efforts ended in failure and as the situation turned tense, police resorted to lathi charge to bring the situation under control.

Later speaking to media persons, the mega star demanded the government to reinstall the statues and said they would re-install them if the government does not come forward for the step. Earlier, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu visited the Tank Bund and demanded the reinstallation of the statue.
