Notwithstanding the coastal people’s anger against setting up of nuclear power projects in the wake of the Japanese nuclear disaster, the state government on Friday issued orders allotting 800 acres of land to the Nuclear Power Plant Components Manufacturing Facility at DL Puram village and Vempadu village in Nakkapalli mandal of Visakhapatnam district.
As per the GO No.32 issued by the Industries department, the government would grant the status of a SEZ to the project. The facility is also conferred with a mega project status.
The GO said that the US company Brighton Equipment Corporation will set up the Facility at an estimated cost of Rs.2900 Cr and provide employment to 2500 skilled man power. The GO said Government has agreed to accord the mega project status to the company going by the rules of the Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, 2010-15.
The 800 acres of land will be allotted through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
