MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, who resigned for his parliament seat, has met the prime minister Manmohan Singh this morning. Notably, PM asked him to meet him today and that was the reason why Kavuri met Manmohan Singh. The sources said that the discussion went on up to twenty minutes following which Kavuri came out. He,however, chose not to speak anything to the media. Nonetheless, he said that he couldn't reveal the details of the discussions but said that he was sticking to the resignation decision.
It may be recalled that Kavuri Sambasiva Rao had sent in his resignation letter to Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar and prime minister Manmohan Singh immediately after the expansion of the central cabinet. Sources close to AICC said that Kavuri was upset that he was not inducted into the cabinet and wanted to move out of the party too.
The Congress leaders, who reacted to the resignation of Kavuri, spoke to the media earlier. They said Kavuri would be given due importance in the Congress party and explained the chances of he becoming AICC general secretary. Accordingly, prime minister Manmohan Singh today called Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and discussed elaborately. Kavuri didn't seem to be happy with the presumed proposals of the Congress and therefore stuck to his decision.
In the wake of Kavuri Sambasiva Rao deciding not t withdraw his resignation, several discussion are in air now. In case, Kavuri moves out of Congress, which party he would approach? Will he join YSRC or alternate Telugu Desam Party? Are the two questions that have been widely discussed. The observers said that if Kavuri joins YSRC, it would undoubtedly be a loss to Congress party since they said Kavuri was a senior Congressman who knew in and out of party affairs and strategies. So, it might become a cakewalk for YSRC to implement counter strategies to Congress if at all Kavuri joins YSR Congress. Anyway, will Congress let Kavuri go out that easily? Probably no but the sources said that Congress reportedly has no other option other than asking any of its ministers to step down and allot the same ministry to Kavuri in order to pacify him. With so many questions and twists, Andhra politics has certainly turned interesting and has been grabbing the attention of not just national media but among all political circles.
