After successful completion of valid degrees like MBA, B Tech, there are still people who are not getting good jobs and settle for lesser jobs or start a small business. We come across engineers doing typing and MBA’s taking up front office. Where ever these people have applied was rejected on account of poor communication skills, analytical ability, and below par domain knowledge. Finally frustration and necessity leads them to some low paid jobs and leading them far away from their domain. Infact we are experiencing some tough times economically, and chances are a lot of you are unemployed or “between jobs”. Most institutes across the country are facing a poor placement season, with a vast majority being left to fend for themselves. Talent assessment experts say underemployment happens mostly because the candidate does not possess skills that are termed employable in the job market.
At this crossroads, introspection is required by all concerned, student go for professional degree to increase their employment quotient. They go for Engineering, MBA, MCA etc to get better jobs. But there to compete in the race he ends up completing the syllabus from the examination point of view and far from the knowledge gaining process point. Infact every engineering college is a research centre where quality processing could be done to this raw stuff. So it is the perspective that has to be revamped from both the sides, the tutors and the students. And most of the colleges across the country are slowly dawning on this reality. Because if it is just the subject, where has the student to look to, when he spends maximum time at the campus, for improving his skillset. Colleges must gear up to this fact or else professional education brought to the doorsteps by some visionaries shall go futile.
Companies are looking for fried chicken not raw chicken which needs to be cooked, roasted and the flavored to suit their need. A candidate has to understand this and become prepared to meet the current needs. A candidate has to understand that their employ-ability and pay package solely depends on them. We don't need to complain but rather look at the problem and address the solutions. Improve subject knowledge, Communication skills, public speaking skills and leadership skills to get that desired job.
