Tamasha Story

Ved Vardhan Sahni (Ranbir Kapoor) is a free spirited guy, who wants to live the life he is willing to. But his father (Javed Shiekh) forces him to pursue engineering and do a project manager job. At the time, when Ved is doing the job unwillingly, he come across Tara Maheshwari (Deepika Padukone), with an identical mentality of his.

The duo fall in love, with an agreement of not revealing their names or background information. But after a few scenes, Tara comes to know that, Ved works for his living and that’s where, she stops loving him.

It is then, the animal in Ved arises. Did Ved convince Tara to come back to him or did he do any cruel act for it? The answers for these questions, forms the rest of the story.

Tamasha Analysis

Ranbir’s character would appear like a mix of his characters in ‘Ye Jawani Hei Diwani’ and Rockstar movies. The chemistry with his real life ex-girlfriend, Deepika Padukone would be liked by many. The film goes on with an enough number of cool episodes in the first half. The interval block raises the expectations and makes us curious about the  happenings in the second half.

But all those expectations would be dipped, just after the few minutes of the start of the second half. The shades in Ranbir’s characterization, would be tough to digest at least for his fans. But if the Rockstar formula works here, it would be liked by that section of people.

Performance

Ranbir is terrific in the movie. He got to perform few interesting shades in the film and surprisingly, all those would be identical to his real life character. Deepika’s role has given, what she could do, or to say what she had already done in her earlier movies. So, she would obviously be well connected to Tara’s character. Javed Shiekh as a strict father is good, rest other roles are decent. 

AR Rahman’s music is at its peaks and boosts up the content of the scene, with his apt background score. Dialogues are just ok, the cinematography is good, but the editing should be concentrated and the production values are rich. 

Imtiaz Ali had tried to recreate the magic of ‘Love Aaj Kal’, but diverted it to a different route, for the fear of being caught. Unfortunately, that different route would appear dangerous.
