In October this year, an elderly couple named Kathiresan and Meenal, hailing from Melur near Madhurai in Tamil Nadu claimed that Tamil actor Dhanush is their son Kalaiselvan, who ran away from home in his childhood.
A month later, on November 7th, the couple filed a petition at a local court in Melur. There they claimed that they are his real parents. the couple also added that they recognised Dhanush after seeing him in movies. They also produced the actor's childhood photographs and birth certificate when he was in studying in class 10th.
The couple tried to meet Dhanush at his Chennai residence but failed to meet. Later they also approached to the police and the Chief Minister's special cell. There they asked help in getting their son back. The couple even went on asking Rs.65,000 from Dhanush for their monthly maintenance.
On Friday, the judicial magistrate has asked Dhanush to appear before the Melur court on or before January 12th for a hearing in the old couple's paternity case. Dhanush is yet to respond to this entire controversy.
