Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan files a legal notice against actress Kangana Ranaut, claiming that she is suffering from Asperger's Disorder, which makes her imagine things.
The issue has led to severe outrage on Hrithik, not being aware of Asperger’s exact nature.
Reacting to Hrithik’s claim, president of Autism Society of India, Nishath Kirmani Ali said that, the actor's claim is inaccurate.
"Imagining things and Asperger's are two different things," she says. The former is a symptom of schizophrenia.
People with Asperger's Disorder are usually impaired in social situations. "If he (Hrithik Roshan) has alleged this, it is quite disrespectful. We do not label special needs individuals, except for the purpose of diagnosis or research and development," Ali says.
In his legal notice, Hrithik has accused Ranaut of stalking him continuously through “senseless, personal and absurd” emails.
On the contrary, Kangana alleges that Hrithik is misrepresenting the truth about their romantic relationship and that he hacked into her account to delete their correspondence.
Ali further adds that, if Kangana’s allegation having Asperger’s is true, there is a definite positive side.
"If it is true, then it gives our children great hope. After all, she is an accomplished actor and is doing well."
As April 2nd is the World Autism Day, it would do well for either party to clarify the confusion once and for all.
