Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza clinched gold medal in mixed doubles tennis event at the 17th Asian Games on Monday. Sania who teamed up with Saketh Myneni defeated the Chinese Taipei pair of Hsien Yin Peng and Hao Ching Chan in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in the Monday finals. This is the third major event that Sania has won after being named as the brand ambassador of Telangana state which turned controversial.
With Sania's gold, India moved to ninth position in the overall ranking of medals which stand at 42. In other events, India's Mary Kom advanced into the semi-finals of the boxing and if she manages to win the match, then one more medal is confirmed.
