Golf: Manav ensures India win B’desh open

India wins Bangladesh open golf and Manav steers to victory single handedly. Tremendous efforts and skills displayed by the Indian are worth appreciations.

Indians excelled at the Bangladesh Open Amateur golf Championships at the Kurmitola Golf Club, in Dhaka, on Thursday outclassing their opponents. The star attractions were ace golfer Manav Das assisted by his team mate Khalin Joshi, who won the team title. Manav extended his dominance by winning the individual lead to seven shots. Manav shot 69 in first round, scored 68 in second and is now seven-under 137 for two rounds.

The Indian duo of Manav and Joshi emerged winners in the team event as they aggregated 285 for two days and finished 10 strokes ahead of the Bangladesh A team, Sajib Ali and Dulal Hussain, who were at 295. Sri Lanka’s N. Thangaraja and Vijita Bhandara also totaled 295 but lost on count-back. Apart from hosts Bangladesh, golfers from Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are participating in the five-day meet.                            (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
