Storm Queens Reached The Final; Beat Fire Birds 21-11

Storm Queens have booked their berth in the finals after beating Fire Birds by huge margin of 10 points in 6th game of Women’s Pro Kabaddi League 2016 on Wednesday at Dome@NSCI SVP stadium in Mumbai.

Storm Queens with winning 2 games in 4 and scoring 13 points have reached the finals. On the other hand Fire Birds who are at third spot with winning a single game and scoring 8 points will meet Ice Divas in the Qualifier on Monday.

Skipper Tejaswini Bai and Sonali Ingale scoring one raid point each as Queens started with 4-1 at the initial stages of the game. Fire Birds skipper Mamtha Poojari could only score 1 point from her side as no other raider could score raid points. Storm Queen continued to pile on the pressure on Fire Birds through scoring regular points and as Fire Birds were struggling to score points, Queens ended the first half at 8-4 in their favor. Tejaswini Bai and her team scored their first all out on Fire Birds to lead 13-4 in the second half. From the Fire Birds, other than Mamtha Poojari and Kishori Shinde in defense could not perform well as they were trailing at 7-16 after 24 minutes.

Later, countering to Queens’s attack, Fire Birds raider Rinju K came forward and scored two raid points at 25th and 27th minute. But her performance was not enough in front of Queens’s aggressive attack. Fire Bird could only score 4 points against Queens’s tightened defense as they lost a game with huge margin of 10 points.
