Tata EV cuts prices of Nexon and Tiago:- Tata Motors has recently reduced the prices of two popular electric vehicles. The Nexon EV's price has been lowered by up to Rs 1.20 lakh, now starting at Rs 14.49 lakh, while the Tiago EV is now Rs 70,000 cheaper, priced at Rs 7.99 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). The company has decided to pass on the benefits of reduced battery prices to its customers. The long-range Nexon EV (465km) will now start at Rs 16.99 lakh. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, TPEM, explained that since battery costs make up a significant portion of the overall EV cost, and with the expectation of further reduction in the future, they have decided to directly pass on the resulting benefits to customers.
The Nexon EV has received a fresh appearance with a redesigned front and rear. It now features a closed-off grille and stylish tri-arrow design elements. The updated Nexon EV is available in various models, with prices starting from Rs 17.06 lakh. The standout feature of the new Nexon EV is its second-gen electric motor, which is more compact, lighter by around 20 kilos, spins faster, and delivers a power output of 145hp and torque of 215Nm. In a more streamlined and efficient manner, the Nexon EV offers two battery options. The battery architecture and pack size of the previous Nexon EV Max remain unchanged. Autocar India's real-world range test showed an average highway efficiency of 6.73km/kWh and an average city efficiency of 6.9km/kWh, resulting in a combined range of 273 km on a full charge for both city and highway driving.
Additionally, the updated Nexon EV provides four regeneration levels to choose from and limits torque to 70 percent in Eco mode. Charging the car from 20-80 percent only takes 67 minutes with a 30kW DC fast charger and 230 minutes (3 hours and 50 minutes) with an 11kW AC wallbox charger.
