Finally India to have the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler of the brand Jeep

After a long wait, finally India has got the privilege of presenting the two variants of Jeep the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler to the fan following. Initially the company will make CBU or the complete built up models of both the models and there is a plan to start assembling the models in the Ranjangaon plant of Fiat known as Chrysler Automobile starting next year. This will give advantage to the people to customize the models as per their taste.
Amongst other SUVs of this segment, the Grand Cherokee is considered one of the most premium models. It will be made available in three variants. The first one is called Limited, the second one Summit and the third one SRT. The former two are diesel based SUVs while the third one is a petrol based. The Limited and Summit have power of 3.0 liter v6 diesel with 240 BHP and torque of 570 Nm. Very rarely installed automatic gearbox of eight speed has been synced with the engine. The third variant that is the Grand SRT is a petrol based model that has 6.4 liter petrol engine of v8 with a power of 470 BHP and 624 Nm of torque. It also carries with it the eight speed gearbox which is automatic.
The wrangler will be available only in four door unlimited variant. It has a power of 2.8 liter diesel engine that has four turbocharged cylinder which is CRD. With a power of 197 BHP at rpm of 3600 while it has torque of 460 Nm at rpm of 1600 to 2000, it stands unique. Unlike the Grand Cherokee, the Wrangler has an automatic gearbox with five-speed however the Command Trac 4WD system is standard.
Out of a total of ten cities that Jeep has planned to open its dealership in India, Ahmedabad has already given a start with a Destination Store that is live. All the dealership will be up and running by this year-end or next year. Some other cities that will have these happening outlets are Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Cochi and Bengaluru to name at the moment.
People in India have been waiting for this day and finally the day has come. We are sure of its huge success. Jeep has claimed the three models to be the most fuel efficient.
The ex showroom price of the Grand Cherokee are Rs 93.64 Lakh, Rs 1.03 Crore and Rs 1.12 Crore for Limited, Summit and SRT respectively. The Wrangler has been priced (ex showroom) at Rs 71.59 Lakh.
