Samsung Retains the Top Slot in the Global Smartphone Market:- Samsung, the leader in smartphones retained its top slot in the global smartphone market as per the reports. It lost to Huwaei earlier this year. In India too, Samsung reached the top slot after 2018. In August 2020, Samsung enjoyed 22 percent of the global share in smartphone sales. Huwaei stands in second place with 16 percent share in the smartphone market. It had 21 percent share in April and Huwaei slipped down. Xiaomi holds 11 percent of the market share as per the reports of August this year. After the lockdown restrictions are imposed and the world impacted due to coronavirus, the sales of Samsung saw a decline in April 2020.
Soon, the sales reached an all-time high due to various reasons. An aggressive online promotional campaign helped Samsung retain the top slot in India. The anti-China sentiments too helped Samsung bigtime. From April to August, the global share of Samsung increased by 2 percent, i.e from 20 percent to 22 percent. Xiaomi is slowly making an impact in all the markets. Its global market share increased to 11 percent from 8 percent. Apple kept its market steady with 12 percent share and it remained the same from April to August.
There are reports that the sales of Apple would increase with the announcement of Apple 12 series. Another smartphone maker Oppo too witnessed a hike in the market share.
