Krish Iyer is Wal-Mart India unit's CEO

Krish Iyer has been appointed as the president and CEO of Wal-Mart for its India unit on Friday. The US retail giant in its statement said that the appointment will be effective from January 20, 2014.

Iyer would report to Scott Price, Wal-Mart's Asia regional president and CEO. The company's interim CEO Ramnik Narsey, would be taking-up the role of senior vice president, Wal-Mart International, the statement added. And Ramnik would be reporting to David Cheesewright, the president and chief executive of Wal-Mart International.

After Iyer's appointment, Scott Price said that Krish would take care of the growth and success of Wal-Mart's  India operations along with developing the future retail strategy of the company in India. Iyer had joined Wal-Mart International in 2012 in the rank of senior vice-president.  

Before joining Wal-Mart, Iyer worked with AS Watson Group and at Piramyd Retail Limited. He is a Chartered Accountant, and has a Bachelor degree with honours in Commerce and Economics from India's Mumbai University.
