A thief's plan to make away with a box full of cash was foiled by his own pants. If only he wore a belt, he would have escaped. Alas, he did not.
Anthony Jason Garcia was pretending to pray at a large Catholic Church near Walt Disney World, Florida, while ruminating over how to run away with stolen money. The Church has a large gift shop, which happens to be the biggest in the southeastern United States.
Garcia soon rose from the Church's sanctuary and tried to escape with the cash drawer from the gift shop. Church maintenance director Joe Larkin immediately followed in pursuit. To his amusement, the thief's baggy pants began slipping down.
Orange County Sheriff spokeswoman Jane Watrel was quoted by Reuters as saying, "So here Garcia is, both hands holding the cash drawer and trying to pull up his pants.” She added that Larkin saw his opportunity and plunged for Garcia, pulling his pants down further and tripping him.
Needless to say, he was arrested for robbery. The sheriff's office, however, refused to reveal how much cash Garcia tried to run away with.
