Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma said, “Nobody is denying AP students the right to study in any Telangana institution. The only difference is that now the T state has decided to reimburse the fees of only Telangana students. The criteria deciding who will get the benefit will be decided later.”
The announcement came when a lot of confusion and uncertainty is going on particularly among the students studying professional courses in the wake of Governments indecision about the nativity, fees reimbursement and eligibility criterion for scholarships.
He said that the decision factor to identify local students is under consideration but it will not affect the admissions.
He also said, “According to the AP Reorganization Act, a student from AP or Telangana can take admission in either state based on allocation of unreserved seats. Admission process remains the same. It is only the issue of fee reimbursement.”
The fees reimbursement plan of Government of Telangana to the students studying professional courses and also payment of scholarships are decided by the state to continue which will cost Rs.2500 crore to the state.
As per the latest proposal under consideration, fixing of the activity of students studying in Telangana is further restricted to the ones who not only were born in Telangana but also to the ones whose fathers also were born in Telangana.
