On Thursday state government granted permission for prosecuting Pawan Kalyan. Andhra Pradesh state chief secretary Ajay Jain issued GO Rt-16.
Pawan Kalyan will prosecute under 199 (4)(b) of the Criminal Procedure, 1973, which is for making baseless allegations against grama volunteers.
Pawan Kalyan in his statements stated that volunteers are the reason for 29,000 missing women in the state referring to NCRB data. He also alleged that for the sake of state welfare schemes Volunteers are collecting personal data and forwarding it to the anti-social elements, leading to human trafficking. That is by misusing their financial difficulties and forcing them into trafficking.
Pawan Kalyan on his Varahi Vijaya Yatra claimed that of 29,000 missing women, in which only 14000 were traced and the remaining 15,000 are still missing and left untraced.
The GO of grama volunteers in the state was an innovative policy of the state following the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, that is decentralization of administration at the village level. Which is a noble step to know whether the government schemes are reaching the public.
But now women in the state are insecure and raising concerns over the misuse of personal data. The state government has taken this decision of the prosecution to take the insecurity created in the state public after the statements passed by Pawan Kalyan. After Janasena leader, TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh is following the same comments on the volunteer system.
