Ison Comet Close To Sun After 10000 Years

Video shows Ison comet moving towards Sun captured by Solar Terrostrial Relations Observatory (STEREO) space craft between 20 and 25 November.

It is interesting to see the comet near Sun.  But the sky watchers are also worried about the fate of the comet as it is going towards Sun.  Whether it survives or breaks in to pieces or simply disappoints is to be waited and seen as the scientists say.

The comet is brightening as it is moving towards Sun.  Its boiling surface is releasing large amount of ice, dust and gases to brighten up.

The comet’s perihelion i.e., the closest point will be on Nov 28.  The comet travels at a speed of 248 km per second encountering solar temperature of about 5000 Fahrenheit.

In case the comet survives it will come back to the skies from the earth in early December- with whatever mass left in it!

An awareness program on the Ison comet was held at Bhawan’s College at Narayanguda Hyderabad attended by Professor Hasan which was organized by Jana Vignana Vedika.
