Walking to Work Makes you Healthier than a Casual Walk:- Walking with a purpose would be a huge advantage for everyone instead of a casual walk. Walking to work makes people walk faster and they are considered healthier than ever says a study. The study was published in the Journal of Transport and Health. It said that walking for different reasons fetched different results. All those who walked to their workplaces and grocery stores reported better health than the people who worked for leisure. Gulsah Akar, an associate professor of city and regional planning in The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture said that walking improves the health and the types are different for the results.

The data has been collected from 2107 National Household Travel Survey which was collected between April 2016 and May 2017. As many as 1,25,885 adults between the ages of 18 and 64 participated in the study. The data of their walking time, purpose and their walking trips are collected. The survey also ranked them on a scale of 1 to 5 basing on their walking trips and their health. The dataset had 5,00,000 trips. The study said that walking for any purpose and duration increased the health factor of the person.

All those who walked for reasons not connected work were 3% more with the health score. Walking trips that started at home are generally longer than the other trips. More than going to the gym or a recreation center, it is better to walk with a purpose and it makes a person healthier.
