All about Uterine fibroids and why should you visit a doctor?:- Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumors that will grow in the uterus of women. This happens between 30 and 50 years. They are known medically as leiomyomas or myomas. Most of the women with Uterine fibroids show no symptoms, others experience painful menstruation or heavy bleeding during their periods. Some of them have even both the above symptoms. All those having such symptoms should immediately consult a gynecologist. A study said that 37.65 percent of the women living in rural regions of India and 25 percent of the women in urban regions have Uterine fibroids. The women should pay attention to such signs and they require medical attention.

Uterine fibroids will vary in shape and size and they can be seen as small seeds of an apple and some of them are big as a grape. Some of the Uterine fibroids may cause pelvic pressure and those with women look like a pregnant women because of the abdominal growth. In some of them, Uterine fibroids cause infertility and anemia and also have an impact on the ongoing pregnancy. The large Uterine fibroids will prevent the foetus from getting the right foetal position. They increase the mother's risk of a breech birth. These also increase the chances of C-section delivery or a chance of pre-term.

Uterine fibroids may lead to obesity, family history of fibroids. Painful intercourse, increased urination, pain in the pelvis or the lower back, constipation and leg pain are the other symptoms of Uterine fibroids.
