Get enough calcium:
Foods rich in calcium are broccoli, yogurt, cabbage and milk. These foods will naturally fight muscle spasms and help you avoid cramps. Women need at least 1,200 mg of calcium daily. So try to consume leafy vegetables more in your diet.
Reduce salt and caffeine consumption:
Experts advise to reduce the consumption of salt and caffeine content during the menstrual period. Caffeine can irritate the stomach by increasing gastrointestinal activity which will worsen the condition of cramps. High salt consumption will aid water retention.
