Mothers Unlikely To Transmit Coronavirus To Newborns

Mothers Unlikely To Transmit Coronavirus To Newborns:- The mothers infected with coronavirus are unlikely to pass the virus to their newborn babies as per the study from the researchers in the USA. The study involved 120 babies born in New York and these cases found no transmission from the birth of the child to two weeks after the birth and breastfeeding. The research was published in The Lancet Child and Adolescent Health journal. All these babies are allowed to share the room with their mothers and allowed to get fed by their mothers who wore surgical masks.

The study made sure that the risk of transmission of coronavirus is almost zero. World Health Organization and the U.K.’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommended the same. American Academy of Pediatrics previously advised that the infected mothers and the newborn babies are temporarily separated. The research was conducted between March 22nd and May 17th. The tests of coronavirus were conducted in the first 24 hours. 72 babies were tested after they were born and they were tested after two weeks. None of the babies even showed the symptoms of coronavirus.
