Indian-American Vanita Gupta appointed as Associate Attorney General:- As per the update, a prominent civil rights lawyer and Indian American, Vanita Gupta has been appointed as the Associate Attorney General by the US Senate. Vanita Gupta is the first person of the color to occupy the third-highest position at the Department of Justice. Lisa Murkowski, the Republican Senator broke from her party colleagues to support the 46-year-old Vanita Gupta on April 21st. Vice President Kamala Harris was present in the Senate. USA President Joe Biden congratulated Vanita Gupta on her victory. He released a statement congratulating her.
"Congratulations to Vanita Gupta on making history as the first woman of color to serve as associate attorney general. Now, I urge the Senate to confirm Kristen Clarke. Both are eminently qualified, highly respected lawyers who are dedicated to advancing racial equity and justice" posted Joe Biden. Vanita Gupta happens to be the first civil rights lawyer to take up one of the top three positions of the Department of Justice. Vanita Gupta as appreciated by several colleagues and leaders. Vanita Gupta was born and raised in Philadelphia had a career of fighting for civil rights.
She completed the Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and Juris Doctor from New York University. She started her career at NAACP Legal Defense Fund at the age of 28. She was appreciated for breaking the barriers for fighting on various social issues.
