Father Of Missing 3-Year Old Indian Girl In TX Arrested:- A day after the investigators recovered the body of a small child, in a culvert, the father of the three-year-old Indian girl, Sherin Mathews who went missing in Texas was arrested.

According to reports, Sherin Mathews was last seen outside her family’s backyard in Richardson city in Texas on October 7. Her Indian-American father Wesley Mathews (37) scolded her and sent her alone outside late at night as punishment for not finishing her milk. The little girl had developmental issues and limited verbal communication skills.

On Sunday evening, Wesley was arrested and faces charges of injury to a child, Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich said. Wesley and his attorney voluntarily arrived at the Richardson police station, on Monday and shared a different account of the girl’s disappearance than his original statement, Perlich said.

“He provided an alternate series of events from what he had previously given us,” Perlich said according to a report.

The investigators do not have reason to believe the body found Sunday is not that of Sherin Mathews. But they are still waiting for the medical examiner’s office to confirm it and to determine a cause of death, added Perlich.

Meanwhile, the couple’s four-year-old biological child was removed from the custody Child Protective Services (CPS) and  just days after Sherin disappeared, the little girl was placed in foster care. Along with officials from Texas Child Protective Services, Wesley and Sini Mathews approached a judge, regarding the custody of the other child.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Wesley Mathews told police that at around 3 am, he put Sherin in an alley near their house in the 900 block of Sunningdale where coyotes previously had been spotted, to punish her after she would not drink her milk. Mathews told police that about 15 minutes later, he went to check on Sherin. According to the account he gave to police, he went inside to wait for daylight to continue searching, or for her to return on her own, when he did not find her. As he waited, he did laundry, said Perlich.

Police have said that when Wesley Mathews told the girl to go stand outside, the girl’s mother was reportedly asleep at home and was unaware of what he was doing. About two years ago, Wesley and Sini Mathews reportedly adopted Sherin from an orphanage in India. At the time, she was said to be physically underdeveloped and malnourished. The girl does not even have the language skills of a typical 3-year-old.

Drones, cadaver dogs, an Amber Alert and teams from multiple agencies, that swept fields and other areas around the girl’s home, were involved in the two-week search for Sherin. The police also sought help from neighbors and nearby businesses that may have had footage of the family’s maroon Acura SUV, between the hours that Sherin was said to have been left outside and when her disappearance was reported to police.
