Indian Muslim Woman Raped, Murdered In Honor Killing:- In a suspected honor killing, a19-year-old Indian Muslim woman was kidnapped, raped and murdered in the UK.
According to media reports, the deceased victim identified as Celine Dokhram started a relationship with an Arab Muslim. Celine was allegedly kidnapped with the other woman, bound and gagged and taken to an address in Kingston- upon-Thames in south west London where they were raped and she was killed. After the other woman in her 20s who had her throat slit alerted police from a hospital, the body was recovered from inside a 1.5 million pound home.
A post-mortem examination carried out gave the teenager’s cause of death as an incised wound to the neck. In Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, the accused Mujahid Arshid (33) appeared. Charges of murder, rape and kidnap of the woman have been levied on him. He is further charged with the rape, attempted murder and kidnap of the second woman. Alongside his co-defendant, Vincent Tappu (28) who is charged with the kidnap of both women, the duo appeared in the court.
Binita Roscoe, for the prosecution, told the court “the two victims were attacked by men wearing balaclavas”. According to Roscoe, the surviving woman – who cannot be named for legal reasons – said “the men used a Taser electrical weapon in the attack. Wrapped in dustsheets, the women were then placed in a vehicle and driven several miles.”
Roscoe described the surviving woman’s ordeal: “Her face and mouth were covered in duct tape. Her hands were tied with cable ties and her feet were tied with rope.”
“She believes a sock was placed in her mouth. She had heard the deceased who was in the shower screaming. The deceased was brought down tied up.”
Roscoe said Dokhram’s family had not approved of her relationship.
District Judge James Henderson remanded Tappu and Arshid in custody. On July 28, Arshid will appear at the Old Bailey. At the same court on August 21, both men are due to appear.
