Nitin is no Courier boy in real life. He has been summoned for neither paying his taxes nor for registering for the mandatory service tax. This news has given a mild heart attack to Nitin and his die hard fans as no one imagined his name to be drawn into this controversy.
As per the latest Central government amendment, all involved parties in a film production are liable to pay 12.36% service tax on their contracts, provided their pay exceeds Rs10 Lakhs. Many young starlets were found to have shirked their tax responsibilities, according to the service tax officials.
Over the past two years, actor Nitin was also found to have evaded the law for not paying his service tax on earnings. The actor has not responded to the notice yet.
