The SS Rajamouli directorial has performed beyond expectations in all the territories. But the performance of the film in Karnataka has evoked ripples in the local Kannada film industry.

The epic movie, Baahubali 2, has garnered close to Rs 20 crore on its opening day, says reports. This figure would look tremendous, when you will get to know that the Prabhas starrer movie, overtook by three times collections, of the top Kannada opening film. Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s “Raajakumara” was the earlier biggest opener in Karnataka with about Rs 7 crore gross. Hence the rousing welcome for Baahubali 2 obviously scared the Kannada industry stars.

The movie, released in about 400 screens in Karnataka, received never-before-seen response from audiences resulting in mind blowing collections. The major revenue for the film, reportedly came from the Telugu-dominant regions of the state. Besides releasing the movie in various languages, the huge ticket rates also helped the movie carve this historical record in the state.
