While Shatrughan Sinha and Reena Roy's affair was the talk of Bollywood, for the several decades, it would not be a sarcasm, if I say that, gossip is still doing the rounds.
Recently, the actor turned politician reacted to the issue, saying that his biography book, named ‘Anything But Khamosh’, includes several things he did in the early times.
“The book has the summary of my life, from how I left home to study films at Pune, my struggle in the film industry, and then the girls who came into my life - the ‘gharwali’ (wife) came and then ‘baharwali’ (the other woman)," he said.
Being the author of the Biography book, Bharathi S Pradhan, captured almost every significant incident in Sinha’s life, in an honest and unflattering manner.
Reportedly, the book even has a few pages about his off-screen intimacy with co-actor Reena Roy and how the relationship continued for a while, even after his marriage with Poonam.
Sinha said, only if he exposes the actual facts, the tale would be interesting and gripping throughout and that is the reason, he decided to do it.
“I have done that without hurting anybody's dignity. There is no vulgarity or voyeurism in the book. I haven't mentioned about many girls in my life. They are settled, they have children. It's not the right thing to identify them,” he said.
After the book was released, many commented criticizing Sinha. Reacting to such comments, Sinha said, "Grey areas must be covered. If you don't do that, then it becomes sycophancy. If I would have wanted, I could have edited comments by people who spoke against me, but I didn't. It's a democracy, so let them say whatever they have to say."
Before writing the book, Biographer Pradhan took seven years and a series of interviews with Sinha and the people who have known him.
"I would say it's a very courageous biography because he has not only been honest about himself, but allowed others to scrutinise his life," Pradhan says.
Sinha described the book as having bits of everything - his struggle, passion, achievement, humour, romance, comedy, tragedy. "It is a lesson on how to become a self-made man," said the veteran actor.
He also said, "I think there will be a sequel. (It will have) Whatever happened after 2014 in my social and political life."
Earlier, there was even a buzz in the media that, Bollywood actress and Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter, Sonakshi Sinha looked like Reena Roy.
Reacting to that, Sonakshi said, “I think it (Shatrugan Sinha and Reena Roy's affair) happened when I was not even born. I found out when I was growing up and started understanding things. But I'm not going to crucify my father for something he did years back. It is his past. And everybody has a past. So I don't think too much about it. Nor do I pay attention to it. Like I said, it just makes really good headlines and juicy gossip to some people. But for me, this is my family. I feel I look like my mom (Poonam Sinha).”
