The two decades unprecedented run of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' at Maratha Mandir has come to an end this morning. The film was screened at 9:15 AM show today for the last time at the theatre which completed 1009 weeks, making the longest run in the history of Indian Cinema.
The makers of DDLJ, Yash Raj Films has confirmed the end of the film's screening and it is a decision taken after fruitful consultations with the management of Maratha Mandir. The managing director Manoj Desai of the theatre, however, told news agency IANS, “We have 1105 seats in one screen and out of which hardly 100 to 200 seats used to get occupied so it doesn't make sense to run it any longer.”
Dilwale Duhania Le Jayenge was Aditya Chopra's first film as director and it was a trend-setter film.
