I mints Rs 200 crores

Director Shankar's 'I' which released on the eve of Pongal has fetched Rs 200 crores at box office and is still going strong. It's been nearly 25 days, 'I' has hit the screens and despite the mixed reviews, there has been no drop in collections of the film. In Tamil Nadu, 'I' is still carrying packed houses and the Telugu version is also doing good.

According to the analysts, 'I' might cross the figures of Rajinikanth's 'Endhiran' [Robot] which is the highest grossed with Rs 256 crores. The overseas box office collections are also encouraging, especially in US, 'I' has created new records for any South Indian film. In Gulf nations also the film was released in large scale, however the Hindi version did not do much although the main leads of 'I,' Vikram and Amy Jackson are familiar faces to the Bollywood audience.

With the movie touching new benchmarks, the makers are in relief as 'I' is made with a budget of Rs 175 crores and is reckoned as one of the most expensive films made in Indian Cinema.
