Sholay Making Cost Collected By 3D Film In 2 Days

Original Sholay movie making cost was Rs.4.00 crore.  The movie was converted to 3D and released on 3rd collected an amount equivalent to its original movie cost just in two days. 

Sholay released in 1975 directed by Ramesh Sippy produced by GP Sippy, portraying a ruthless dacoit Gabbar Singh enacted by Amjad Khan, two petty criminals with good hearts and a good friendship bond between them Jai and Veeru enacted by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra and a police officer Thakur enacted by Sanjeev Kumar took revenge on Gabbar Singh with the help of Veeru and Jai was a new story line and made with an acclaimed screen play.  Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri did justice to their roles.

The conversion of the movie to 3D costed 20 crores- 5 times to its original film cost. The movie’s dialogues also were in demand at that time in audio format along with its songs.

Collecting Rs.3.75 crore on a movie made in 1975 even if the format changed is a record. Much acclaimed Telugu movie Mayabazar also did well after the black and white film was converted to color film. Among old movies Devadas in Telugu and Mughal E Azam in Hindi are also good collectors of money.
