Kamal Haasan was born on 7th November 1954 at Paramkudi in Madras State. He entered film industry at the age of 6 as a child artist. After his career as child artist between 1959 and 1963, he re-entered the films with lead roles in 1970.

Kamal Haasan got breakthrough with Apoorva Ragangal in 1975 after which he never look back.  Mani Ratnam’s ‘Nayagan’ brought him fame. Kamal Haasan could win the hearts of Telugu audience also through his dubbed movies but the straight films in Telugu under the direction of K.Viswanath like ‘Sagara Sangamam’ and ‘Swati Mutyam’ brought him more close to Telugu cine lovers.  Telugu audience can never forget his role in ‘Bhamane Satya Bhamane’.

He acted in Hindi straight films with Rati Agnihotri in ‘Ek Duje ke liye’ and with Sridevi in ‘Sadma’.  
Kamal Haasan produced his own movies with different themes like ‘Hey Ram’, ‘Virumandhi’, ‘Mahanadhi’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and ‘Viswaroopam’.  Viswarupam -2 is going to be released soon.

Kamal Haasan received many appreciations, awards and titles for his contribution to the Indian Cinema as an actor, director, writer, lyricist, choreographer and playback singer.  He acted in so many different roles which were not attempted by any in the film industry.
