Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's Attarintiki Daredi has won many races so far and is still going strong. AD won the race against time, piracy and records. And yet, there is no sign of cooling down, just like Pawan's anger in the film.
Attarintiki Daredi movie released at a time when other big budget films were stalled and still made good business, drawing the appreciation of director Rajamoli. In the first two days of it's release, the film's revenues crossed Rs 20 crores at the box office. Collections for the entire weekend are expected to cross the 30 crores mark. In the US market, AD managed to hold a position in the top 15 highest grossers in just 2 days.
The race against piracy will go down in history as something no other film could achieve. Police and fans worked together to seize thousands of pirated DVDs and conducted many arrests all over the state. Only recently, nearly 2300 DVDs were seized at Swapna Video and Audio library at Kukatpally. Trivikram even said any other film maker would have mortally suffered after such a leak. But, unanimous support against piracy and 100% occupancy at the theaters was a memorable result.
As far as the records are concerned, it is now taken for granted that all other films will be compared to the success of Attarintiki Daredi. Until recently it was Charan's Magadheera that holds such a privileged position. In the future, many say that Jr NTR's Ramayya Vasthavayya and Mahesh Babu's 1 Nenokkadine will compete with AD's records. Even Bollywood films, such as Besharam, are staying away from Pawan's stamina at the BO. Attarintiki Daredi has made a wide impact in more than one way.
