The third ODI between India and New Zealand ended as a tie. Having won the toss Indian Captain MS Dhoni opted to bowl first and NZ batsmen gave a flying start. Though Ryder was removed early, Guptill and Williamson led their team to surpass the 300 score mark. In this process, Guptill scored hundred and Williamson scored his third consecutive fifty of the series. After these two batsmen departed, NZ batsman were restricted by Indian bowlers. NZ posted a huge total of 314 runs at the end of 50 overs.
Chasing the mammoth total, India openers Dhawan and Rohit gave India a flying start. In the first 10 overs 66 runs, but NZ allrounder Corey Anderson broke the stand. He removed Dhawan, Rohit and Rahane in quick succession. Virat Kohli who is in top form failed in this match as he was dismissed cheaply for 6 runs. Dhoni and Raina tried to built the partnership, Tim Southee removed Raina at 31. Dhoni scored a half century but did not carry his momentum. Ashwin and Jadeja batted well and scored half centuries respectively. Specially Jadeja pulled of ripper at the end and managed India to tie the match.
