The first day of the test cricket match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was an interesting one with Sharmina Eranga of Sri Lanka showed an outstanding performance by taking two wickets for just three balls. Err...yes, you read it right...and it's test cricket. The audience too were awestruck and wondered if they were watching one day international. Before New Zealand reached 80, Sharminga took three wickets.
Opener McCullum, who was 38, was however not beat by anyone and he continued to make good score along with Daniel Flynn. In fact, it was McCullum and Daniel Flynn who revived the innings. Although the duo reduced the run rate by switching to perfect test cricket mode, they successfully managed to instill confidence among the remaining batsmen. Flynn managed to reach his first half century in test innings and he was eventually dismissed for 53. By the end of tea break the score was 155 for six off 60.3 overs.
