In retaliation to the guests, Sri Lanka go on to the field with confidence. But like Lasith in the first innings of the game, Irfan Pathan strikes hard and claims two early wickets wounding the Lankan lions. Joining Lakshmipathi Balaji the pacers reduced the hosts to a mere 45/3. But then Kumara Sangakara stepped in and played a wonderful anchor innings. He scored 32 runs and remained the highest scorer in the host team. Thirumane and Mendis scored 24 and 26 runs respectively.
Among the bowlers in addition to Irfan, his pace partner Balji also wrecked havoc on the Lankan lions and claimed three wickets. Harbhajan Singh bowled very well and claimed just a wicket.
On the whole but for the injury of our ace batsman Gautam Gambhir, eevrything else in favor of Team India. Irfan dominated, Rohit Sharma came back to form and Yuvraj Singh was in a mood to play huge strokes while the Skipper was still at his best in agility.
