Kapil Dev back in BCCI after sorting out differences

Former Indian Skipper Kapil Dev and the BCCI had sorted out their differences, over him joining ICL, as the board of cricket control of India had warmly welcomed him back. Kapil also received an immediate effect disbursal of a one-time benefit payment worth Rs 1.5 crore.

N Srinivasan and the Haryana Hurricane, Kapil met on Wednesday at the board's headquarters and moments later BCCI made the media release that they both are back on terms.

Sinivasan said that they received a letter from the 1983 winning captiain, Dev, saying that he had resigned from Essel Sports Private Limited/ ICL. The letter also say that he had extended his support to BCCI always and would do so in the futute too. On behalf of BCCI, N Srinivasan had thanked Kapil for his leadership and contributions to the Indian cricket. He also wished that their alliance would be a fruitful association for the years to come.

"The BCCI will now release the one-time benefit of Rs 1.5 crore for Kapil (for playing more than 100 Tests) and he will again be eligible for monthly gratis of Rs 35,000 from the board. His gratis arrears for the last five years will also be cleared with immediate effect," said a member of the Board.

Kapil speaking to the media said that BCCI was similar to a parent and the players are like its children. He added that he had worked for the welfare of the association and would continue to do so.

Kapil Dev was banned in 2007 after he associated himself wih ICL for being a part of an unsanctioned organization. Earlier Kapil who had said that he wouldn't seek amnesty from BCCI finally had to give up his grudge.
