IPL: MI Rayaudu-Pollard combo ruin RCB chances, CSK win Kolkata

The fifth edition of the Indian Premier League is posing to be perfect tense filled entertainer as the league matches are reaching their end. There seems to be some good shuffling at the points table and more surprises are on the anvil say critics. In match No 62 played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, MI slams the home team. In match No 63 played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens Kolkata, CSK wins.

Mumbai’s deadly duo Rayudu-Pollard ruins the home team’s chances:
In a spectacular finish the lost match was brought back into reckoning by Ambati Rayudu and Keiron Pollard. The duo scripted the spectacular victory and made the MI climb up the points table to position No.2. The duo between them scored 81 and 52 runs while remaining not out. As the MI came up to play in the second half with a target of 172 set by RCB, the initial three wickets fell for a meek score of 19 runs in the fourth over. The burden fell on the middle order and they responded to the call miraculously posting a five wicket victory against the home team. Obviously it was Ambati Rayudu who claimed the Man of the Match award for his willow prowess. In the process MI scored 173/5.

Earlier on Mumbai won the toss and put the home team to bat first. RCB played a good innings and scored 171/6 in the stipulated twenty overs. Dilshaan and Mayank Agarwal played solid knocks and scored 41 and 67 runs to post the total worth defending on the score board. Almost all the prominent bowlers on both the sides claimed a wicket each and it was ultimately the willows that dominated the match.

Chennai struggles and wins against Kolkata: 
Chennai wins the toss and elects to field. Kolkata, the dominant force in the IPL received a jolt yesterday as Chennai outplays. Kolkata in the first half dominated the play with splendid performance. Gambhir the KKR captain opened the innings along with Mc Cullum. The duo scripted a well organized willow display to post the total for the team. They scored 62 and 37 runs, but the rest played some average innings. KKR posted 158/6 in the first half. Shadab Jakati was the successful bowler for the CSK who grabbed the wickets of Gambhir and Kallis.

In the second half CSK started off well with their openers doing most of the work. Hussey and Vijay scored 56 and 36 runs. But after that the middle order collapsed. And in the end Dhoni played some good shots to get the CSK back on the track, he scored 28 runs. CSK won by five wickets after scoring 160/5. Narine and Bhatia took two wickets each for the KKR. Hussey for his anchor knock claimed the Man of the Match honors.  On the whole the match was evenly posed. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
