Leander leads, with new pair, to clinch his doubles crown at Chennai

As expected the Indian Ace doubles Tennis Champ Leander Paes, paired with Serbian Janko Tipsarevic played brilliantly at the Aircel Chennai Open 2012 to claim their doubles crown in the tournament. Paes who is a dominant player at Chennai has got the doubles crown for the sixth year in the 17th edition of Chennai opens event, held annually. Paes won the first five titles in Chennai along with Mahesh Bhupathi.

The Indo-Serbian Pair defeated Israeli combination of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram 6-4, 6-4, at Chennai on Sunday.

Chennai opens, is the only tournament which enjoys the status of ATP tennis tournament in the country for the last 15 years, held at the SDAT-Nungambakkam Tennis Stadium, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Third seeded Paes and Tipsarevic defeated Israeli fourth seeds in just 73 minutes. The Israeli pair on Saturday night had ousted top seeded Rohan Bopanna and Mahesh Bhupathi.

The Israeli pair fought gamely, but the combined might of Paes and Tipsarevic proved rather too strong for them, much to the delight of the partisan crowd that otherwise had little to cheer about in the tournament. (AarKay)
