The Indo-Pak express of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi play their opening match against Britain's Coling Fleming and Jamie Murray Thursday, and win it in style.
Bopanna-Qureshi pair is seeded seventh in the tournament. They move on to the quarter finals of the ATP Paris Masters with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Bopanna-Qureshi, who got a bye in the opening round, will next face the winners of the match between Michael Llodra-Nenad Zimonic and Eric Butorac-Julien Jean.
The Indo-Pak pair, who have already qualified for the ATP World Tour Finals, found the challenge put up by the Briton duo not a very daunting task, as the world number seven team outclassed their opponents in a convincing manner. Hopes of the sub-continent fans were rekindled by this emphatic victory.
Earlier, Novak Djokovic overcame a first-set wobble to beat Serbian countryman Viktor Troicki and reach the singles quarter-finals. Djokovic, the world number one, was broken twice in the first set and folded on Troicki’s first set point when he drove a backhand into the net. Troicki had lost his last nine encounters with Djokovic and the 15th-seed’s resistance broke apart in the third set, enabling the 2009 champion to complete a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.
