India, whose batting collapse was engineered by the high profile and confident bowlers of South Africa after it won the toss and elected to bat in their Cricket World Cup 2011 Group B encounter on Saturday at Nagpur, had to bite its dust in the end as the Captain Dhoni’s bowlers failed to come up to the expectations in controlling South African batsmen and handed them over a three wicket simply.
For South Africa, the victory came as a morale booster as it chased a moderate 297 target after failing to chase a mere 171 runs against England few days ago.
As everyone expected and commented that India would not win the match since a magnificent century was scored by the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar who got his 48th ODI ton and 99th international hundred, India lost the match due to bad fielding and poor bowling.
It may be mentioned that most of the Indian cricket fans believe that India would not win a match when Sachin cores a century and this belief was once again proved in the defeat of India at the hands of the Proteas.
Man of the match Dale Steyn played a key role in his team’s fight back with his haul of 5 wickets for 50 runs.
For South Africa, Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers became heroes by scoring 69, 61 and 52 respectively. Faf du Plessis (25 not out), Peterson (18 not out) and JP Dummy (23) also played key roles in the South African victory.
