The Indian national football team is set to play two international friendly matches against Malaysia in our country, next month. This will be warm up for the seniors in the run up to the South Asian Football Federation Cup (SAFF) to be also held in New Delhi in December. The international matches will be held on November 13 at the Indira Gandhi Athletics Stadium at Sarusajai, Guwahati and on November 16 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
"The All India Football Federation is pleased to confirm two international friendlies for the Indian senior team against the Malaysian senior team," the AIFF said in a release. Malaysia is ranked 16 spots above India (163rd) in the FIFA rankings at 147.
India was last in action in the month of September when they played Trinidad and Tobago and lost 3-0 in the Caribbean tour.
The SAFF Cup will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi from December 2-12. The stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000, was also the main venue for the Commonwealth Games held last year.
