In the final game, at Rome on Sunday, Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis over Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, won their first ever title on a red clay court, capturing the Internazionali BNL d’Italia trophy with a 6-1, 6-7(5), 10-3.

Since the start of the clay court season, the star players, Sania and Martina were playing their third straight final.

The duo, at Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and Mutua Madrid Open, fell two times to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

Since the last summer, Makarova and Vesnina together, were playing their second tournament, having briefly split as Makarova, healed a leg injury.
