Veteran tennis star Leander Paes and Sania Mirza are going to participate in the US Open mixed Doubles and women's doubles draw respectively, with Martina Hingis as the common partner.

After staving off the challenge from the second-seeded pair of Rohan Bopanna and Yung-Jan Chan of Chinese Taipei 6-2, 7-5, Paes and Hingis were in top form.  

Both the teams served four aces each but the Bopanna-Chan combine suffered on the unforced errors count, which was 12 as compared to 9 from Paes and Hingis.

The US duo of Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey, will now be faced by the Indo-Swiss pair.

In the past, when Hingis joined hands with Sania, the duo rocked their performance playing against the Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta, the Italian pair 6-4, 6-1.

The top pair will now will take on the winner of the second semi-final match between Casey Dellacqua (Australia)-Yaroslava Shvedova (Kazakhstan) and Anna-Lena Groenefeld (Germany)-Coco Vandeweghe (USA).

On Court 17, both the Indian players saw the success in the past and it turned as a sentiment for the fans of the duo. Reacting about this, Paes thanked all the Indians who came to support her, Martina and Sania.    

However, there was a disappointment in the Junior Girls Singles category, as Karman Kaur Thandi's winning run ended against Dalma Galfi in the third round. The second-seeded German overtook Karman kaur 6-4, 7-6.
