IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant to lead Delhi Capitals:- IPL 2021 is just weeks away and all the teams are busy with the practice sessions on a regular basis. Rishabh Pant is now named as the new captain of Delhi Capitals for this season. The captain of Delhi Capitals, Shreyas Iyer was injured during the ODI match with England and is out of IPL 2021. He dislocated his left shoulder and is advised to rest for months. This is the first time, Rishabh Pant will be leading a team as a captain. Rishabh Pant was bought by Delhi Capitals before the 2016 season. Rishabh Pant was the first player to be retained in the team ahead of the 2018 IPL auction. He will be the fifth-youngest captain of IPL after Virat Kohli, Suresh Rain, Steven Smith and Shreyas Iyer.
R Ashwin and Ajinjya Rahane are the other names considered by the management of Delhi Capitals but they finalized Rishabh Pant. He has been in phenomenal form and had several credits for his name. He called it a dream come true to lead the team. In a media release, Rishabh Pant said that he is well associated with the time and he is leading the team after a six-year journey with Delhi Capitals. In the auction of IPL 2016, Delhi Capitals bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 1.9 crores and he was paid Rs 15 crores in 2018. Rishabh Pant was also selected for the team India based on his performance in the IPL seasons for Delhi Capitals.
