India thrash England by 317 runs in the Second test to level the series:- Team India is back with a bang after a huge defeat in the first test match. India thrashed England by a record number of 317 runs in their second test to level the four test match series by 1-1. The match completed in the second session of the fourth day. England went all out for 164 in their second innings. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin never gave a chance for the English batsmen to recover after the team lost back to back wickets. Chasing a target of 482 runs, England fell short and lost the test match by 317 runs. Moeen Ali was the top scorer for England with 43 runs. Rory Joseph Burns (25), Dan Lawrence (26), Joe Root (33) are the other batsmen who managed to get decent scores on board.
Axar Patel (5/60), Ravichandran Ashwin (3/53) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/25) got the best numbers among the Indian bowlers. Ravichandran Ashwin is named as the Player of the Match for his outstanding overall performance. The third test between India and England will commence from February 24th. With this victory, India will move to second position in the ICC test ratings and New Zealand will continue to stand on the top. With this defeat, England slipped into the fourth place. This happens to be the biggest ever victory for Team India in terms of runs margin. With this victory, India kept their chances to qualify for the ICC World Test Championship alive.
